アカンサスは、1875年3月に屋号をモリス商会へ変更した際に初めて発表された壁紙です。アカンサスは、モリスの得意な手法として良く知られるレイヤーを重ねる技法を反映させて、雄大に描かれた渦巻く葉をモチーフにしており、遠近が浅い布地の中でも表情豊かな緑の表現を生み出しています。Acanthus was the first wallpaper to be issued under Morris & Co. in March 1875.
